Where is Crozier Fire burning in Northern California? How close is it to Park Fire? See map

A wildfire was blackening parts of El Dorado County in Northern California, prompting evacuation orders in surrounding areas.

As of midday Friday, the Crozier Fire had spread to more than 1,800 acres and was at 5% containment, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

The fire started about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday northwest of Slate Mountain, the agency said.

The cause of the Crozier Fire was still under investigation as of Friday, according to Cal Fire.

Where is the Crozier Fire?

According to Cal Fire, the Crozier Fire was burning northeast of Placerville, near Fairbanks and Old Pino.

It had burned a total of 1,832 acres in El Dorado County as of midday Friday.

Where are evacuations?

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuation orders instructing area residents to leave immediately. Affected communities include Garden Valley, Georgetown, Volcanoville, Mosquito, Quintet and Swansboro.

As of Friday morning, the evacuation orders had been extended to areas east of Highway 193.

How close is it to Park Fire, other Northern California wildfires?

Elsewhere in Northern California, the Park Fire had burned more than 427,000 acres in Butte, Plumas, Shasta and Tehama counties and was 34% contained as of midday Thursday, according to Cal Fire.

That arson-sparked wildfire originated near Chico, about 150 miles by car from where the Crozier Fire started.

The Crozier Fire isn’t the only blaze burning in El Dorado County.

The Silver Fire, which had scorched 41 acres as of Friday, started on Wednesday afternoon in the 2300 Block of Green Valley Road near Rescue. That’s more than a 50-mile drive from Slate Mountain.
