Oak Fire photos: A dozen of the most dramatic photographs from blaze near Yosemite

Photographers captured dramatic images from the huge wildfire burning in forest near Yosemite National Park, where thousands of residents from mountain communities were evacuated and smoke spread for hundreds of miles.

Ethan Swope of the San Francisco Chronicle, Noah Berger of the Associated Press and the Fresno Bee’s Craig Kohlruss shot images from the Oak Fire, where more than 2,500 firefighters with support from aircraft battled the blaze that erupted Friday southwest of the park in Mariposa County.

Smoke drifted into the Sierra foothills, forcing Placer County to issue an air-quality advisory through Tuesday, the Sacramento Bee reported.
