Big Sur Dolan fire spreads only 326 acres overnight

The Dolan Fire near Big Sur, which was started by arson according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, increased only 326 acres overnight.

The fire was at 128,050 acres as of Saturday and containment inched to 46%, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

As of Friday, more than 27,800 of the fire’s acreage was on Fort Hunter-Liggett land, according to the military base.

Firefighters have seen little movement of the fire in recent days, the Forest Service said.

Crews continue to hold and patrol the burnout operations on Highway 1 as fire backs down the steep coastal slopes to the road. Crews remain diligent watching for spot fires.

Several large trees have fallen across the McKern Road and material from the fire area continues to roll down the steep slopes onto Highway 1, according to the Forest Service.
