Powerball players miss $633 million jackpot in California — but still win big
Two Powerball tickets sold in California fell just one number short of winning the $633 million jackpot, lottery officials said.
Instead, the lucky tickets won $55,825 each, according to the California State Lottery.
The tickets matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, Nov. 22, the state lottery said.
California adjusts lottery prizes based on the number of tickets sold and number of winners.
Where were winning Powerball tickets sold in California?
Both lucky tickets were sold near Los Angeles, according to the California State Lottery.
One of the winning Powerball tickets was purchased at a 7-Eleven convenience store at 8118 Masi Drive in Rancho Cucamonga, while the other was bought at Donuts Galore, 3818 Peck Road in El Monte, lottery officials told McClatchy News in an email.
What were winning numbers in Saturday’s drawing?
The winning numbers were 28, 32, 36, 51 and 69 with a Powerball of 2.
The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
Tickets sold in Georgia and Oklahoma won $1 million each, the national Powerball site said.

Nobody won the Powerball jackpot, which rises to an estimated $654 million, with a cash value of about $303.2 million, for the next drawing, the national Powerball site said.
More than 900,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said. There were 116,179 winners in California.
The Powerball jackpot was last won Sept. 6, when players in Missouri and Texas split the $1.787 billion grand prize.

To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.
The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.
Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.
When is the next Powerball drawing?
Powerball drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time and can be streamed online.
The next drawing will be Monday, Nov. 24.
Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
