More specific statewide data from the California Highway Patrol says Honda Civics and Honda Accords made between 1992-2000 have the highest rates of theft in California in 2021.

The NICB says these were these were the mostly commonly stolen vehicles across the U.S. in 2021:

Here are some anti-theft tips from the CHP and American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators:

  1. Always lock your vehicle.
  2. Always utilize anti-theft devices as a preventative measure. The NCIB recommends looking into a remote vehicle immobilizers or GPS tracking device in the event you’re victimized.
  3. Always park your vehicle in a well-lit area at night.
  4. Always make sure you receive an ownership certificate when purchasing a used vehicle. Search the history of the vehicle to prevent buying a stolen vehicle.
  5. Never leave your keys in your vehicle.
  6. Never hide a spare ignition key on the vehicle. Stay away from magnetic key cases that can be stuck to the bottom of your car.

You can find more detailed information on stolen vehicles by county on the CHP website.
