A California 14-year-old missing for two weeks was found dead in an abandoned vehicle in a Victorville field, sheriff’s officials reported.

Genevieve Brinson was reported missing Feb. 25, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

At 9:51 a.m. Monday, March 7, someone called 911 to report a possible body in a field near Home Depot in Victorville, the release said.

Deputies found Genevieve dead in an abandoned vehicle in the field, the release said. They identified her from fingerprints.

Investigators determined she had been living in the abandoned vehicle with a friend. The county coroner’s office will determine her cause of death.

They ask that anyone with information call 760-241-2911 or 760-956-5001.

Victorville is a city of 122,000 people north of San Bernardino.
