Are your co-workers vaccinated? Search California state worker rates by department
Vaccination rates vary greatly from department to department in California state government, according to data provided by the Human Resources Department.
The rates as of the end of January may be searched by department below. CalHR provided data for 111 departments, agencies, commissions and offices covering about 209,000 of the state’s roughly 230,000 employees.
As of the end of January, about 76% of state workers were fully vaccinated, meaning they had received full vaccine doses but not necessarily boosters, according to the most recent CalHR data.
That’s slightly higher than the statewide rate of 73.5%, according to Department of Public Health figures, and it’s up from a state worker vaccination rate of about 60% four months ago.
Among major departments, the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection had the lowest vaccination rate at 51%. The California Highway Patrol reported the next-lowest at 58%, while the Public Health Department had the highest rate among the largest departments at 86%, according to the data.
Taking into account small offices, 15 reported rates of 100% while CalExpo and the Earthquake Authority reported rates below 50%.
Newsom last year ordered state employees to get vaccinated or submit to regular COVID-19 testing at work.
State departments have been ramping up testing capacity since last summer. Next week, vaccinated workers will no longer be required to wear masks in Sacramento County state offices as a statewide indoor mask requirement expires. Unvaccinated employees will still be required to wear them.
