Dad subdues drunk man who chased teen daughters home, California police say
A “heavily intoxicated” 36-year-old man ran straight into trouble Saturday when he chased two teen girls home, California police say.
The girls, ages 13 and 14, had ducked inside their house in the 10:50 a.m. incident when the man began pounding on the front door, a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department release says.
“The girls’ father, who was home, opened the door at which time the male punched the father in the chest and tried to enter the residence,” deputies wrote.
The father fought back and the man tried to flee, but the father caught up to him and held him for deputies, according to the release.
The man, whom deputies described as “heavily intoxicated,” said he had been “looking for a friend,” the release says.
But the family said the same man had followed the teens home a week earlier, knocked on the door and tried to push it open, according to the release. The family did not report that incident to authorities.
Deputies booked the man, whose name was not released, into jail on suspicion of annoying a child under 18, burglary, public intoxication and assault, the release says.
