Gov. Gavin Newsom gave an update on California wildfires and the COVID-19 pandemic Monday at noon.

You can watch a recording of the livestream here:

California firefighters are still battling two major fire complexes in Northern California sparked by last week’s lightning storms, in addition to other major fires throughout the state. Last week the LNU Lightning Complex in the North Bay area and the SCU Complex in the South Bay and East Bay are the second and third largest fires in the state’s history.

Despite fears of more lightning, no more major California fires were sparked overnight or early Monday morning, but the National Weather Service has a red flag warning in place through the evening as the threat of dry thunderstorms persists.

Meanwhile, the state is still grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic. State public health data from Saturday shows more than 660,000 Californians have tested positive for the coronavirus and more than 12,000 have died.
