‘First baby boomer supermodel’ puts Bali-style house on market for $18.5 million

Cheryl Tiegs was one of America’s favorite models in the 1970s and ‘80s and a three-time cover girl for Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues.

Just as photogenic is her Balinese-inspired Bel Air home, which has hit the market for $18.5 million

“Her ‘70’s posters in a white fishnet bathing suit and then her pink bikini photo solidified her role as America’s first baby-boomer supermodel,” TopTenRealEstateDeals.com wrote in an article about the property.

Tiegs designed the Southern California sanctuary with Bali authenticity, a style she reportedly enjoyed during her travels to the Indonesian island. She bought the 1950s ranch in 1996 for $2.5 million, according to Architectural Digest.

Tiegs worked with designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, the magazine reported, and the project helped launch his career. Bullard has since worked with Christina Aguilera, Cher, Elton John and Kylie Jenner.

Tiegs’ suburban Los Angeles enclave sits on 1.43 lush acres behind gates and accessed by a long driveway. The landscape and pathways on the property are filled with palm trees, Monstera vines and tropical flowers. The house utilizes bold natural elements, textures and colors in its fabrics, floors and exposed dark-wood beams. Glass walls open to stunning views of the lush exterior and the city of Los Angeles.

The 4,770-square-foot house has five bedrooms, five baths, a chef’s kitchen with large butcher block island, sprawling open entertainment areas inside and out, a wine cellar, pool, guest house and three-car garage.

Jade and Tiffany Mills of Coldwell Banker Global Luxury, Beverly Hills, are the listing agents.

“Perched on a promontory overlooking panoramic city views, this property offers a secluded and tranquil resort-style setting,” according to the official property listing.

“(Tiegs) feels that when she comes home, she has total peace,” Jade Mills told Mansion Global in an article

Developers are “building these very large square-footage houses (in Bel Air),” his partner Tiffany Mills said in the article. “This is, in comparison, sort of a smaller, cozier house.”

Tiegs, 71, began modeling when she was 17 appearing on the covers of Glamour, Seventeen and Elle. She is also an avid health and fitness figure.
