State Board of Equalization making visits to Fresno, Hanford in October

The State Board of Equalization’s Statewide Compliance & Outreach Program will visit non-residential retail businesses in Fresno and Hanford in mid-October to review or verify licenses and educate owners about their tax obligations.

More than 98 percent of California businesses operate with the correct permits, but those that do not cost the state more than $2 billion in uncollected sales and use taxes, which negatively affects all state taxpayers, the department said in a news release.

Program operators will visit businesses in central and east-central Fresno, in the 93703 and 93705 ZIP code areas. In Hanford, visits will be conducted throughout the city, in areas with the 93230 ZIP code.
