Wild Water Adventure Park in Clovis has a new addition to the park: the transformation of a popular water slide into a new video game attraction.

The attraction will be called slide boarding. An existing, Vertigo, will be transformed into an interactive and competitive gaming experience. Riders going slide boarding will sit on a specially designed raft with two game console-like handles with color coated buttons. As riders go through the slide, LED lights will flash when triggered by hidden sensors. The object of the game is to match the lights with the buttons. The closer the rider gets to the lights, the more points they score.

The game will feature different difficulty levels riders can choose from, and participants can check their scores at the bottom of the ride. Those who don’t want to compete but still enjoy Vertigo can ride without the gaming option.

Wild Water officials said that the park is one of only four in the world using this new technology.

“Wild Water Adventure Park is pleased to offer an innovative and immersive video game-like experience to the Fresno/Clovis area that can only be found in a few other select places across the country,” said Kathy Siggers of Wild Water Adventure Park.

The park will be conducting a naming contest on Facebook for the new attraction where fans can submit and vote for potential names. The ride is set to open in early summer.

The park is located at 11413 East Shaw Ave.
