Gas prices rose 6 cents in Fresno over the last month to an average $2.76 for a gallon of unleaded, according to AAA of Northern California.

The price in the Visalia-Tulare-Porterville area rose 7 cents to an average $2.82.

AAA released its monthly gas price report Tuesday.

Prices are similar statewide, climbing 3 cents to $2.80 a gallon.

California gas prices have made their typical spring climb in the last few months as the state switches to a cleaner-burning blend of gasoline and the summer driving season approaches.

Prices are lower than last year, and that has inspired drivers to hit the roads at record levels. This summer is expected to rival 2007, when demand for gas hit an all-time high, according to AAA.

The state has a healthy supply of gasoline, which should keep prices steady in the near future, according to AAA.
