Kmart closing two Tulare County stores
Kmart stores in Tulare and Dinuba will close this summer, the parent company announced this week.
Sears Holdings first announced in February that it would accelerate the closing of unprofitable stores, including a list of 68 Kmart and 10 Sears stores released Thursday.
The Kmart stores at 2270 East El Monte Way in Dinuba and 1475 Hillman St. in Tulare will close in late July.
The cash from liquidation sales and property sales or subleases will go toward returning the struggling company to profitability.
It wasn’t clear how many employees will be affected, but they will receive severance payments and the have the opportunity to apply for jobs at other Kmart and Sears stores.
