McDonald’s, AutoZone to break ground in Mendota; new jobs, economic boost seen

The city of Mendota will celebrate the impending arrival of two national chain businesses with a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday.

Mendota Mayor Robert Silva announced that fast-food giant McDonald’s and AutoZone, a national auto-parts retailer, will build on the west side of Derrick Avenue, north of Belmont Avenue. The site is just north of a Family Dollar store.

According to the city, the new stores will be the first phase of development on the property near the southwest edge of Mendota. Silva said McDonald’s and AutoZone “will provide jobs to our citizens and a boost to the local economy in general, so we’re glad to have them here.”

The groundbreaking event is set for 10 a.m.
