A new CVS will be built between Applebee’s and Minnewawa Avenue at the corner of Shaw Avenue in Clovis. A nearby CVS will move into the new building in April.

The mess of machinery and fencing at Shaw and Minnewawa avenues in Clovis will soon make way for a new CVS.

The pharmacy is many months away, with an anticipated April opening, according to CVS.

Work has just started on the site in the Rodeo Plaza next to Applebee’s. The spot was once home to the Empire Buffet, though the building has been torn down and CVS is constructing a new one.

The new store is technically a move, as the CVS at Clovis and Shaw avenues will close.

The new 14,500-square-foot store will have a drive thru, something the existing location – a former Longs Drugs – didn’t.

The Rodeo Plaza shopping center was bought recently by a Southern California investor who also bought two other centers in Fresno. The new owner has already upgraded the exterior of many buildings in the Clovis center.
