BMX bike riders have a new store to check out in Clovis.

Forward Bike and Skate at 703 Shaw Ave. opened in early July. It was launched by business partners, Jason Brown and Neil Barbo. The two friends and riders want to focus on offering BMX riders the latest in equipment and bikes.

“We really felt there was a need for a store that focuses just on 20-inch BMX bikes,” Barbo said.

The store sells lots of products, including complete bikes, frames, handlebars, sprockets, pedals, pegs, tire tubes, brakes, seats and posts.

“And what we don’t have in the store, we can order it and get it in a day or two,” Barbo said.

BMX bikes start out at about $250 and go up, depending on the type of equipment you need.

“We can build whatever you want,” Barbo said.

Along with selling bikes and equipment, Barbo said that store also offers a few perks, including use of a 10-foot rail and grind box for riders to practice tricks.

“We pull that stuff out after our business neighbors have closed,” Barbo said. “It gives kids a chance to have some fun without getting chased out of the mall or a school.”
