Word on the Street: COIL Yoga moving to north Fresno

COIL Yoga, a longtime downtown business, is celebrating its move to northwest Fresno with a weekend’s worth of festivities and classes.

“We are very excited about the move,” said Katie Flinn, owner of Coil Yoga.

The celebration starts on Friday with a farewell class at the old studio –764 P St. – from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. That same day, Flinn will teach classes in the new location – 292 West Shaw Ave. – at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The grand opening celebration is on Saturday, Oct. 3 with classes from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be a raffle, food and prizes.

Flinn said that while she has enjoyed the space in the historic Wormser Building on P Street, ongoing construction and a shortage of parking made it more challenging.

“I have always wanted to maintain a peacefulness and ease of getting to the studio and that has become harder and harder to do,” Flinn said.

What Flinn was lacking downtown, she found in the new space on Shaw Avenue. She is leasing the space – a former reading room – from the Second Church of Christ Science.

“It is a great, visible location and with free parking,” Flinn said. “We have created a whole new theme here.”

Flinn said the studio will now have outdoor seating and a patio for relaxing. Flinn also hopes to provide some classes to promote health and wellness.
