PG&E, GRID Alternatives join in solar job fair
Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and GRID Alternatives jointly held a job fair in Fresno this week to connect solar companies who are hiring with would-be employees.
About 15 companies with more than 180 jobs to fill participated in the event Wednesday at the Manchester Center shopping center in central Fresno.
GRID Alternatives is a nonprofit that provides job training for aspiring workers in the solar industry and installs solar power systems for low-income households.
PG&E gave GRID Alternatives, which has worked with the utility for 10 years, a $25,000 grant to support eight solar installation fellowships in Northern California, each fellow working with GRID Alternatives for one year of on-the-job training in solar installation.
