Gas prices fall 20 cents in Fresno
Gas prices are plunging everywhere, including Fresno, where the price has fallen 23 cents in the last month to an average $3.14 for a gallon of unleaded gasoline, according to AAA of Northern California.
Prices fell even more – 30 cents – in the Visalia-Tulare-Porterville area to an average $3.10 per gallon.
AAA released its monthly gas price report Tuesday.
An oversupply of crude oil and record high production of gasoline from refineries is driving down prices, according to AAA.
Prices in the central San Joaquin Valley are running below the state average of $3.26 a gallon.
Nationwide, prices are at an average $2.39 a gallon. National prices were the lowest they’ve been in a decade over the Labor Day weekend.
Gas prices are expected to stay low if oil and gasoline supplies remain healthy, according to AAA. The switch to a less-expensive blend of winter-time gasoline in California in the coming weeks is also expected to keep prices down.
