Labor Day breakfast honors workers Monday

The 30th annual Labor Day breakfast and a dedication of a workers memorial runs from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at the Fresno fairgrounds.

Active and retired members of police and fire unions are cooking the eggs, sausage and pancakes, and local elected officials and candidates will serve the food.

Music will be performed by Trey Tosh, and pets will be available for adoption. The event also include a blood drive honoring injured Fresno Fire Captain Pete Dern.

A workplace safety theme will honor workers injured or killed on the job. After breakfast, Union Park and the Workers Memorial at the fairgrounds will be dedicated.

The event is at the Pirates Cove and parking at Chance Avenue free. Tickets cost $10; children 12 and under are free.

The event is organized by the Fresno-Madera-Tulare-Kings Central Labor Council, the Fresno-Madera-Tulare-Kings Building Trades Council and the Fresno Area Coalition of Organized Labor.
