Valley businesses among state’s biggest tax delinquents
Eighteen Valley businesses and individuals are on the state’s list of the 500 largest sales-tax delinquencies, some with unpaid taxes dating back a decade or more.
Collectively, the Valley entities on the list owe more than $17.4 million, according to data released this week by the state Board of Equalization. Most have had their sales tax permits and articles of incorporation suspended by the state for failure to pay back taxes. Many are no longer in business, and some have filed for bankruptcy.
They are:
▪ Central Valley Food Services Inc. / Jack in the Box, Fresno, $3,084,100, first lien in 2008, filed for bankruptcy in 2009.
▪ Kings Drywall Inc., Selma, $2,795,424, first lien in 2011, filed for bankruptcy in 2013.
▪ Fresno’s Auto Maxx Inc., Fresno, $1,570,079, first lien in 2009.
▪ Eissa Hussain Abumaali, Fresno, $1,560,958, first lien in 2014.
▪ Curt’s Auto Repair Inc. / Oakhurst Shell Oil, Oakhurst, $1,001,927, first lien in 2001, filed for bankruptcy in 2003.
▪ Fresno Auto Source Inc. / Auto Source, Fresno, $848,854, first lien in 2013.
▪ Plasencia Inc. / Mario’s Auto Sales, Kerman, $684,374, first lien 2010, filed for bankruptcy in 2011.
▪ Mario Plasencia, Kerman, $680,499, first lien in 2010.
▪ Gregory D. Gonzales and Roger Paul Toschi / Vernon’s Chevron Service, Madera, $655,387, first lien in 2008.
▪ Catherine Elaine Souza / Souza Tire, Sanger, $587,624, first lien in 2012, filed for bankruptcy in 2010 and 2012.
▪ Jack Dubeau Champion Chevrolet Buick Inc., Firebaugh, $579,567, first lien in 2005.
▪ Charlene Ann Ellis / Sharp Cars, Fresno, $564,618, first lien in 2014.
▪ Jose De Jesus Lupercio / Jesus Auto Sales, Porterville, $530,866, first lien in 2014.
▪ Ameriwest Inc., Visalia, $479,893, first lien in 2010.
▪ Adelaida Cervantes / Rancho Grande Auto Center, Fresno, $470,087, first lien in 2010.
▪ U.S.A. National Services Corp. / National Auto Sales, Fresno, $437,156, first lien in 2009.
▪ Abdelnaser Ahmad Ayyash, Fresno, $432,171, first lien in 2013.
▪ Futtatini LLC / Merced City Truck Stop, Fresno, $425,788, first lien in 2010.
The Board of Equalization reports that the total owed by all of the individuals and businesses on the top 500 list is more than $460.9 million. The board distributes its list to state licensing agencies, and those on the list can have their driver’s licenses or professional licenses suspended until they pay what they owe or negotiate a payment plan with the state.
