Toyota recalls over 5K vehicles. See affected models
Toyota has recalled nearly 5,500 Toyota and Lexus vehicles due to an issue that could cause loss of "stability and control," subsequently increasing the risk of a crash, according to a notice published on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
According to the July 8 recall notice, the issue involves certain vehicles' rear axle carriers, which "may have been manufactured with insufficient material strength and could break."

Which models are potentially impacted?
The NHTSA reported that 5,408 units are potentially impacted in this recall. The models included are:
- 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander
- 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid
- 2026 Lexus TX
- 2026 Lexus TX Hybrid
- 2026 Lexus TX Plug-In Hybrid
The recall numbers are 26TB13, 26TA13, 26LB08 and 26LA08.
What are the next steps?
Notification letters will be sent out on Aug. 23, the NHTSA said. Car owners can take their vehicles to the dealership at no charge. They will do an inspection and replace the sub-assemblies if deemed necessary.
