$200,000 grant to train Fresno County youth in renewable fuel production

The California Workforce Investment Board announced a $200,000 grant to the Fresno Regional Workforce Investment Board to teach job-seeking youth about the renewable fuel production sector.

The regional board, with community partners, will use the money to create a career pathway curriculum that starts in K-12 schools and continues to the community college and university levels.

At least 30 students will be trained in the “Renewable Fuel Production Career Pathway” at Clovis High School, Fresno City College and Fresno State. Employers will help develop the curriculum to ensure it meets their needs, and the regional board will work with local partners to assess employment needs and see that students are competitive candidates and not just trained in a skill, executive director Blake Konczal said
