Personal training business Fresno Fit is moving from a 260-square-foot studio to a location that’s 2,400 square feet.

Owner Nestor Flores started Fresno Fit in September 2014 to help 1,000 Fresno residents reach their fitness goals and lose weight by 2020. Flores added it’s a journey he’s gone through himself, as he used to weigh more than 200 pounds. So far he has a client base of 54 customers, and only a handful of them have reached their fitness goals, he said.

Fresno Fit focuses on weight loss and fat loss mainly through body weight training, where clients use their own body weight as resistance, as well as basic equipment such as battle ropes and dumbbells.

“Equipment that anyone can use,” he said. “There’s no big weights here, there’s no big, intimidating machines.”

I opened it… without any clients, without any equipment, without any money, really. And I’ve been able to grow it.

Session are offered beginning at 5:15 a.m. and run until 7:45 p.m., he said.

Flores opened the business with five months experience of personal training at 5637 N. Figarden Drive. He targets 30- to 55-year-old women wanting to lose weight, although he said he has a variety of clients ages 17 to 75.

“I opened it…without any clients, without any equipment, without any money, really,” he said. “And I’ve been able to grow it.”

Flores attributes his success to the enthusiasm he has for his mission to help 1,000 people. The support he’s gotten from clients has made him want to expand and reach out to even more people, as he could only help about 50 clients at a time in his smaller studio, he said.

There’s no big weights here, there’s no big, intimidating machines.

He’s also looking to take on more personal trainers in the future. Fresno Fit has four employees, including Flores, and with room for more clients there’s room for more fitness coaches in the near future, he said.

The business will have its grand opening July 31 at its new location, 3093 W. Bullard Ave. The store will raffle off a free year’s subscription at the opening and is offering a special on sign-up rates starting at $97 a month for unlimited sessions.
