Word on the Street: Project management company opens new office in downtown Fresno
Project management company Motive Power, Inc. added an office in Fresno on July 1, about three years after first expanding into the area.
Motive Power was founded in 2005 by Angel Lance and built up a client base in the Bay Area, said Brian Gallo, one of the consultants at the Fresno office. Four or five years ago it started expanding outside of the Bay Area, and in each of the past three years it has worked to almost double its number of employees.
Motive Power works to consult with companies, whether that means evaluating how they work to help them be more efficient, providing basic leadership training or coming in after a merger and helping smooth management’s way. Sometimes Motive Power is there to just act as a needed third party, he said.
A lot of times, we’ll go into a client’s office expecting maybe a six-month period performance. And the client just likes how we work, so they hire us on for a whole lot longer than that.

Motive Power consultantThe length of time spent at the company and amount charged can vary greatly, as Motive Power works with both large companies and small businesses, he said.
“A lot of times, we’ll go into a client’s office expecting maybe a six-month period performance,” Gallo said. “And the client just likes how we work, so they hire us on for a whole lot longer than that.”
While the company has clients across the country and a few internationally, it is mainly based in California, Gallo said.
Motive Power first established itself in Fresno with client Pacific Gas & Electric Co. Once it had a client in Fresno, Motive Power started to build connections in the area and expand its client base, working with software developers, healthcare providers and the Veteran’s Hospital, until it became prudent to build an office at 1901 Fulton St., he said.
We’re hoping that a lot of that growth is here in Fresno.

“We’re hoping that a lot of that growth is here in Fresno,” he said.
The office’s grand opening will be toward the end of August, Gallo said.
