Sanger redevelopment manager, Dan Spears, postpones retirement
Dan Spears, economic and redevelopment manager for the city of Sanger, has postponed his planned retirement in August and signed a contract as the director of community development, interim city manager Dayle Keller announced on Monday.
In the new position, Spears will continue his economic development activities and oversee the planning, building, housing and code enforcement divisions and employees.
“I started planning my retirement in mid-2014 and set mid-August as a target date because I believed that my current development projects would be wrapped up by that time,” Spears said in a news release. “However, so many new projects are now in play that it would not be fair to these businesses or the city for me to walk away at this time.”
Sanger recently launched the Big Trees Transit program to bus visitors from the city directly to Kings Canyon National Park. This week, construction is expected to begin on a 15,000 square foot medical center in downtown Sanger.
