Over 62,000 using online access to state unemployment claims
After its first month of availability, a new system for people to manage their state unemployment insurance claims online and on smartphones or tablets has more than 62,000 users.
The Employment Development Department’s UI Online and UI Online Mobile services launched in early June. The system is in addition to the online application system that people have been able to use to file unemployment claims since 2002.
The new systems let people receiving unemployment insurance benefits certify for continued benefits, report work and wages, review detailed payment information, update contact information, reopen claims, track and reschedule appointments, and receive notifications from the EDD.
The system operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week in English and Spanish languages.
As of April, nearly 378,000 people in California were certified for unemployment benefits, including 20,311 in Fresno County, 2,942 in Kings County, 3,163 in Madera County and 10,523 in Tulare County.
Details about the online system are available at www.edd.ca.gov/unemployment/ui_online.htm.
