Word on the Street: Ultimate Property Concept paints brown lawns green
For those tired of a brown lawn, Ultimate Property Concept has the answer: Paint it green!
Everyone has cut back dramatically on water use because of the drought, said vice president Kimberly Morton. Lawns everywhere are becoming brown, which leaves neighborhoods looking not so pretty, she said.
Morton said she saw a niche for a lawn-painting business to serve the Valley area and started the company in May with her boyfriend, who’s been in property management for 20 years.
The chemical dye is nontoxic, safe for pets, kids and the environment, and it lasts about 10 to 14 weeks without discoloration, she said.
“It looks lush and green…once we spray it,” Morton said. “I have it at my house…it’s nice to look out and see green.”
It takes about an hour for the paint to dry, with paint time depending on how deep a green tone the client wants, she said.
Prices go by square footage, with 500 square feet costing $125 to paint, Morton said. It can vary depending on the home, which is why the business has a person come out and quote prices, she added.
The company paints commercial and residential properties, she said. It also offers cleaning services for rental units between tenants, performing maintenance and remodeling.
Ultimate Property Concept has made about $2,100 in a month and half, while spending about $5,000 to get the business off the ground, she said.
The business is still small, with hired contractors rather than employees, she said.
“Being that the business is new, we’re just getting the product out there and familiarizing people with it,” Morton said. “Once you see the results…it speaks for itself.”
