Announcements

▪ The Fresno Sunrise Rotary Club has announced its board members for the coming year 2015/16. They are: Philip Blohm, president; Michael Renberg, past president; Tim Conboy, president elect; Sandra Watkins, secretary; Ben Krikorian, treasurer; Alan Uyemura, service projects chair; Lisa Dadian, club administration chair; Gary Neal, membership chair; Robert Garcia, public relations chair; and Jamie Kuhns, Rotary Foundation chair.

▪ Richard C. Conway, managing partner of Kahn, Soares & Conway, LLP’s Hanford office was selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer for 2015 by Super Lawyers. This is the 4th consecutive year he has achieved the Super Lawyer designation.

▪ Matt Merzoian, of LPL Financial in Fresno, was named to the 2015 Financial Times Top 401 Retirement Plan Advisors list. The top advisers were chosen based on several criteria, including assets under management in defined contribution (DC) plans; degree of specialization in DC plan advising; growth in DC plan assets under management; growth in number of DC plans advised; average population rate in advised DC plans; years of experience as a DC planner; industry certifications; and compliance record.

▪ Lozano Smith LLP, a leading California education and public agency law firm, announced that two attorneys from Fresno have been selected by Super Lawyers Magazine as 2015 Rising Stars. They are: Ashley N. Emerzian and Benjamin C. Rosenbaum, associates. Emerzian represents the firm’s public agency clients with a focus on general counsel and labor and employment matters on behalf of school districts. Rosenbaum represents education clients and he is co-chair of Lozano Smith’s Students Practice Group.

The following Dowling Aaron Incorporated attorneys were included on the Super Lawyers and Rising Stars list this year: Richard M. Aaron, Leigh W. Burnside, James D. Burnside III, Nickolas J. Donations

▪ The Rotary Club of Fresno Foundation awarded $10,000 to Reading and Beyond for development of a new technology component in the after-school program which targets children in grades K-6 who are reading below grade level and struggling with literacy as well as computer skills. The foundation also awarded $5,000 to Valley Teen Ranch for remodeling of three kitchens and three double bathrooms in each of their three residential group homes.

Milestones

▪ Karol Bourdet, mortgage consultant, has 10 years of service with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.

New Faces

▪ Dr. Philip Cheng joined the Perinatal Medical Group team of neonatologists serving sick pre-term and full-term babies in the Central Valley. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, and then joined the UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program to complete his residency in pediatrics. He went on to UC San Diego to complete his fellowship in neonatology.

▪ Benito Rivas joined Family HealthCare Network’s Health Center in Cutler-Orosi as a physician assistant. He completed the Primary Care Associate Program with the Stanford University School of Medicine and has served patients in the Central Valley for nearly 15 years.

▪ Kirk Coverston joined Visalia Medical Clinic as a pediatrician. He completed medical school at Ross University and his internship and residency in pediatrics at MERC Michigan State DeVos Children’s Hospital. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Promotions

▪ April Lauren Elliott was promoted to clinical director at Family HealthCare Network’s Visalia Oak Health Center. Prior to her promotion, she practiced family medicine at FHCN’s Three Rivers Health Center for more than three years. In addition to her promotion, she will continue to serve patients in the Three Rivers community.
