Announcement

Oxnard-based Lazer Broadcasting Corp. and Lazer Licenses LLC acquired nine California radio stations, including six in the central San Joaquin Valley, in a $2.35 million deal. The stations, formerly owned by Casa Media Partners, LLC, were acquired in an auction sale in a pending Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The Valley stations are KMQA (100.5 FM) of East Porterville, KMEN (100.5 FM) of Mendota, KTNS (1060 AM) of Oakhurst, KAAT (103.1 FM) of Oakhurst, KAAT-FM1 (103.1 FM) of Merced, and K282AE (104.3 FM) of Oakhurst.

Awards

Madera Irrigation District recently was awarded the District Transparency Certificate of Excellence by the Special District Leadership Foundation. The district was recognized for its achievements in the areas of governance, transparency, finances and board conduct.

Associated Builders and Contractors Northern California announced several recipients of the Excellence in Construction Awards in 2017: BMY Construction Group, Inc of Fresno for the Aims Center Remodel Project, Mark Wilson Construction, Inc. of Fresno for the Realty Concepts Clovis Project and Soltek Pacific Construction Company of Clovis for the P-327 F-35C Operational Training Facility Project.

Yosemite National Park announced Michael Pieper is the 2016 recipient of the NPS Pacific West Regional Director’s 2016 Award for Natural Resource Stewardship through Maintenance. Michael is a civil engineer at the park.

Kaiser Permanente Fresno received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Quality Achievement Award with Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite Plus. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to nationally recognized guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.

Kaiser Permanente Fresno nurse Cristina Racoma received the DAISY Award for extraordinary nursing. The award is from a national program that recognizes bedside nurses for providing extraordinary and compassionate care to patients.

SCORE volunteer Ali Nekumanesh will receive the Ronald E. Harrison award at next month’s International Franchise Association convention in Phoenix.

Donations

GSF Properties Inc. donated $30,000 to the Poverello House. The funds were raised by the employees through volunteering and local community events.

Bank of the Sierra announced 15 nonprofit organizations in four counties were awarded grants totaling $50,000 during the fourth quarter through its Sierra Grant Program. They include The Down Syndrome Association of Central California and Peoples Self Help Housing Corporation for its Literacy Youth Education Enhancement Program.

New Faces

Dean Watanabe has been named chief conservation education officer for Fresno Chaffee Zoo. He has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in biology from Miami University.

Malinda Tupper has been named the new vice president and chief financial officer for Kaweah Delta Health Care District. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University with degrees in both accounting and finance.

James Kim has been named the new executive vice president, chief administrative officer for Central Valley Community Bank. He received his MBA and BS in accountancy from California State University, Sacramento.

Owen Blake is a new club member at the East Fresno Kiwanis Club. He was a club member in Michigan and has moved to Fresno to work with the Fresno Grizzlies.

New Places

EZ Fits Meals has opened at 1512 E. Champlain Drive in Fresno. EZ Fit Meals is a food prep company that cooks and prepares meals for health and fitness-minded individuals.
