SLO-based tech firm buys Fresno’s Innovative IT Inc.

A fast-growing San Luis Obispo information-technology firm is expanding its footprint in the central San Joaquin Valley with its acquisition of Fresno-based Innovative IT Inc.

TekTegrity Inc. announced its deal with Innovative IT on Jan. 9. Brian Horton, CEO of Innovative IT, and his entire team of about two dozen employees are joining TekTegrity and will essentially become the combined companies’ Valley branch. Horton said TekTegrity has had an office for several years. “TekTegrity approached us with a vision for a combined company that would preserve our relationships with our clients and include our entire team,” Horton said. “Merging our companies means we can create new career opportunities for our staff and invest in new innovative client solutions.”

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

TekTegrity said the merger increases its staff to 65 employees and boosts its client base to almost 300 businesses in Central California. The company was on Inc. magazine’s Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private businesses in both 2013 and 2014. Its reported $4.9 million in revenue in 2013 represented a 149% increase in revenue over a three-year period, landing the company at No. 2,536 on the 2014 Inc. 5000 list.
