Announcements
▪ Central Valley Community Bank has partnered with Raymond James Financial Inc. effective in November to provide investment services for Central Valley Investment Services, a division of the bank.
▪ Lending Concepts raised $3,500 for the Art of Life Cancer Foundation during the month of October, including a corporate donation paired with funds raised from a “Paint it Forward” night.
▪ Fig Garden Swim and Racquet Club announced Bob Cherry will return for a second term of service as the club’s board president. His first term as president was in 1973; upon completion of his service, he stepped into the position of club general manager from 1974-1976.
▪ Vacasa, a leading U.S. vacation rental management company, announced it has acquired Shaver Lake Vacation Rentals, a vacation rental company in Central California.
▪ Fresno State alumnus Patrick Ramirez, vice president of corporate services at Community Medical Centers, and Gary Chahil, board president of CCI Inc., were named to the University Advisory Board by Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro. The 21-member panel of community members provides strategic input on development of the university.
▪ Fig Garden Rotary Club provided a grant of $2,500 to the Fresno Fire Chief’s Foundation Helmets Are Cool.
▪ Aspen Kelley, a military spouse in Lemoore, has been awarded a fully-funded scholarship to Kaplan University as part of a partnership with ThanksUSA.
▪ East Fresno Rotary Club donated $500 to the Science Club at Scandinavian Middle School to work on four projects selected by club members.
Awards
▪ Saint Agnes Medical Center announced nurses Allison Walker and Noe Garcia as the winners of the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses. The award is part of a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by bedside nurses.
▪ Saint Agnes Medical Center announced Marlene Bernard and Angela De La Rosa as the winners of the Going the Extra Mile Award. The award honors colleagues who provide outstanding customer service, deliver exceptional patient care and demonstrate the Saint Agnes mission and core values.
▪ The Building Industry Association of Fresno/Madera Counties honored outgoing chairman Brent McCaffrey for his dedication to the community achieving the dream of home ownership. The event also included the introduction of the 2018 board of directors and chairman of the board Matt Smith of Woodside Homes and vice chairman James Jimison of Century Communities.
▪ McCaffrey Homes has won two silver awards in the prestigious “Nationals” awards category given by The National Association of Home Builders. The awards were for Best Architectural Design for The Ivy at Riverstone – Residence 3 and for Best Interior Merchandising for the Residence 1 model in the Santerra at Riverstone community.
New Faces
▪ United Health Centers announced the addition of Ganga Hematillake as associate medical director for 15 health center locations in the central San Joaquin Valley. He previously served as chief medical officer for the VA New England Healthcare System and is a graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine.
▪ United Health Centers announced the addition of Jihan Ansari-Parsaraei, Navpreet K. Gill and Muna Almoayad to its team of providers at the new UHC Health Center at 1570 Seventh St. in Sanger. Drs. Ansari-Parsaraei and Gill will provide family medicine services while Dr. Almoayad will offer dental services.
New Places
▪ Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts held a ribbon-cutting event Dec. 7 to announce the opening of an additional classroom facility at 4747 N. First Ave., Building D. This expansion is part of the allied health school’s effort to improve its quality and standard of education and to accommodate the growing need for educated healthcare professionals.
▪ Luxe Salon and Spa is located on the corner of Champlain and Perrin avenues and offers an extensive list of premium amenities, including services from highly trained hair and nail technicians, aestheticians and message therapists.
