Reedley farm services company earns award

Gar Tootelian, a Reedley-based farm chemical company, has been honored for running an environmentally safe company and its community outreach efforts.

The company was recently selected as the Western Regional winner of the 2015 Environmental Respect Award sponsored by DuPont Crop Protection and CropLife magazine. The award recognizes a company’s stewardship, safety and philanthropic efforts.

“Gar takes great pride in receiving this award as it truly represents a lifetime of commitment and work from the hardest working people I know, our growers and staff,” said Greg Musson, Gar’s president and chief executive officer.

Gar has worked to promote agriculture education and awareness in the central San Joaquin Valley. The company sponsors the Fresno Grizzlies’ Farm Grown Program, the Valley Farm at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo and Valley PBS’ Valleys Gold and Education through Agriculture. Its partnership with Clovis Community Medical Center has raised $1.65 million to expand emergency services. It has also raised more than $70,000 in the Feeding Families Food Drive for the Community Food Bank.
