Valley winemakers helping fellow vintners in Napa impacted by wildfires
A Go Fund Me page has been started by Valley winemakers to aid the victims of the Wine Country fires that have ravaged the area.
More than 3,000 structures, including several wineries, have been destroyed and at least 29 people have been killed. The fires that started Sunday night continue to rage in parts of Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino counties. In all, there are 16 fires burning in Northern California.
Spearheaded by Fäsi Estate Winery in Friant, the Go Fund Me campaign, Napa-Fire-Victims-Relief is trying to raise $10,000. As of Thursday afternoon, $1,220 had been collected.
“These fires have caused vast devastation and we wanted to do something to help our fellow wineries and their neighbors,” said Erica Magarian, Fäsi winery manager. “People have lost everything and this really hit home for us.”
Magarian said people can donate cash or gift cards to retailers, including Costco, Walmart or Target.
“We felt it was easier for people to use gift cards; that way they can chose what they really need,” Magarian said. “And any amount will help these families.”
To help spread the word, Fäsi is partnering with several other Madera Vintners Association members to help collect donations.
Participating wineries include:
▪ Fäsi Estate Winery & Tasting Room, 42415 Road 208, Friant
▪ Quady Winery, 13181 Road 24, Madera
▪ The Tasting Room, 7775 N. Palm Ave., Fresno
▪ San Joaquin Wine Company, 21821 Ave. 16, Madera
All the money raised will be given to the Napa Valley Community Foundation.
