‘Hands off’ rally in Clovis brings out hundreds to protest Trump policies

About 400 protesters, many holding anti-Trump signs, assembled at the corner of Shaw and Clovis on Saturday for a second ‘hands off’ rally in as many weeks.

The two protests were somewhat spontaneous local versions of similar rallies happening across the nation to protest Trump administration policies related to immigration and federal government layoffs, among other issues. The local rallies have been advertised and organized largely through social media posts.

“I’ve been watching this current president begin his mission to destroy America, institution by institution,” said Ed Parrish, a retired Fresno Unified teacher who was at the rally and said he was born in 1940.

Cars honked as they passed by, with some passengers yelling support for the protesters and others yelling support for the president. One sign at the rally read, “The power of the Constitution will always be in the people.”
