Home & Garden

Want a peek behind the fence at some of Fresno’s most beautiful gardens? Here’s your chance

The 28th annual Spring Garden Tour featuring five home gardens in Fresno is Saturday, April 27.

The Fresno County Master Gardeners produces the show, a rare chance for the public to visit backyards of some of the city’s most unique homes.

This year’s tour honors the centennial of the Wilson Tract (also known as Wilson Island and Wilson District), a neighborhood in the Tower District just south of McKinley Avenue. Three of the featured gardens are at homes in the tract, all within walking distance.

“It’s been a great adventure to be on the garden tour,” says Wendy Carroll, one of the Wilson Tract homeowners.

Also, two gardens at southeast Fresno homes are featured. And, as always, the Master Gardeners’ Garden of the Sun, which serves as home base for the day.

Visitors can tour the gardens in any order but must have a ticket (including children). Tickets cost $30 in advance or $35 day of. Advance tickets are on sale at many area businesses and at Garden of the Sun; day-of tickets are available at any tour stop.

There is no handicap accessibility at the private gardens, but Garden of the Sun has a No Barriers garden.

The tour benefits Master Gardener programs.
