Einstein Bros. Bagels opening in downtown Fresno — right next to a Starbucks
Downtown Fresno is getting an Einstein Bros. Bagels.
The national company is planning to open a shop next to Starbucks at the corner of Kern and N streets in Civic Center Square’s Crescent Building, across from the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center.
It’s aiming to open this summer, hopefully in July, said Jaime Gonzalez, general manager and one of the three franchisee owners behind the Einstein Bros. Bagels location.
The location is co-owned by franchisees and Fresno natives Gonzalez, Mohamed Alhalemi and Patrick Monreal, president of real estate firm The Saito Company.
The new location (which is in a former Quizno’s spot) is a good fit for downtown workers looking for breakfast, Gonzalez said.
“We know the Valley. We know the 559 really well,” he said. “We’re just confident and hopeful the community stands by our side.”
Einstein Bros. has locations nationwide, and is in the process of opening six in the Fresno area.
The first opened near Friant Road and Highway 41 in December. Another followed earlier this year at Golden State Boulevard, just off Highway 99 and Herndon Avenue.
Another will be inside Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
Einstein Bros sells classic bagels and gourmet ones, including chocolate chip and French toast bagels. There are also bagels with toppings baked in, such as cheesy hash browns. Breakfast and lunch sandwiches are available, too.
