A popular burger spot opened its 5th Fresno-area location — its biggest one yet

Hammy’s Smash Burgers is a locally owned restaurant that rapidly cranks out its juicy thin burgers — and new restaurants.

It just opened its fifth restaurant since launching the company a little over two years ago.

The newest Hammy’s opened Wednesday at Cedar and Shepherd avenues, in the same shopping center as Vons.

Smashburgers are the latest popular trend to hit the Fresno restaurant scene in recent years. Hammy’s has developed a following that eagerly awaits each new restaurant.

The fifth Hammy’s Smashburgers is now open at Cedar and Shepherd in north Fresno. It’s the biggest one yet, with seating for more than 60 people.

What is Hammy’s Smashburgers?

The name Hammy’s comes from owner Hamzah “Hammy” Ahmed.

“This is technically the biggest one we’ve opened,” he said of the new spot. “It’s a lot bigger, a lot roomier.”

It seats more than 60 people.

The restaurant will have the same limited menu as the others. Customers can get single, double or triple patties with grilled onions and sauce, with options including bacon and jalapeños, and a side of fries.

The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at 8963 N. Cedar Ave., suite 101, in the former Fluckers Hot Chicken space.

Hammy’s first location opened at at Shaw and Blythe avenues near Costco, and its second in Los Angeles.

The other two are also on Shaw Avenue: a Clovis location near Walmart, and another near Fashion Fair mall, in the former Pita Grill spot on the corner of Shaw Avenue and First Street.

Hammy’s is not the only place to get smashburgers in town.

Smash Bros Bistro, Smash’N Burgers and Main Street Burgers all sell them, along with food truck Gator’s Smashburgers.
