Four new businesses opening in Fresno area — plus a revamped Dave & Buster’s
Although big-name businesses such as Joann fabric stores and Sequoia Brewing Co. are closing locations in Fresno and Clovis, it’s not all bad news.
Several businesses are opening new locations.
They range from food and drink places offering coffee, boba tea and desserts, to local yoga and wellness spots to national discount retailers and a “new” Dave & Buster’s.
Here’s a look at what’s coming to town.
Blue Moon Yoga & Wellness
The local yoga studio turned wellness center is days away from opening its third location. This one will be in the Fig Garden Financial Center, behind the Bank of America.
The Blue Moon Yoga & Wellness center will have two yoga rooms. A large one for classes including hot yoga and hot Pilates, with classes ranging from gentle to sculpting with weights. A smaller yoga room is for workshops and teacher trainings.
The location will also offer contrast therapy, which includes two saunas and three cold plunge tanks. Blue Moon says the benefits include enhancing circulation, reducing inflammation and boosting overall well-being.
Cold-pressed juices from its Clovis juice bar will also be available for sale.
Blue Moon’s first location is in north Fresno at Champlain Drive and Perrin Avenue (near True Rest Float Spa, which is also under the same umbrella), with another location at Herndon and Clovis avenues.
Blue Moon is growing because people are recognizing the benefits of what it does, said Ali Thurner, vice president of marketing.
“Everyone that does this practice feels better,” she said. “They feel more relaxed. They feel stronger. They gain muscle. They lose weight. . It has the physical and emotional and mental benefits.”
Ross
The newest Ross Dress for Less store in Fresno opens Saturday, March 8. This one is at the northeast corner of Kings Canyon Road and Clovis Avenue in the Sunnyside Country Club Village Shopping Center.
The center was once home to an Orchard Supply Hardware. The Ross joins a dd’s DISCOUNTS, owned by the same company.
The 23,000-square-foot Ross store sells discounted clothing for men, women and children, along with shoes and home goods.
Supri
Supri is a coffee and boba tea shop that is opening a shop in north Fresno.
No date has been publicly set, but it’s teasing its grand opening as “coming soon” on its Instagram page. It’s going into a new bright green building near Mad Duck Brewing Co. at Copper and Maple avenues.
Supri has been serving its drinks from a truck around town, including at Enzo’s Table.
Its menu includes milk teas, fruit teas, smoothies, slushies and dessert-style concoctions with Oreos and KitKats blended into them.
Unlike many boba shops, Supri also has a full coffee menu, with drip coffee, lattes, and other espresso-based drinks.
The new locations will also serve desserts.
Not a Trader Joe’s
Users of the Next Door app noticed that work had started on the empty Kiki’s Quilt Shack spot near Palm and Bullard avenues. Their conversation blew up online when one of them wondered if it was going to be a Trader Joe’s.
But no such luck, as the location is being turned into a Dollar Tree, confirmed the City of Fresno. Various permits have been filed for work and approved.
Kiki’s closed last year. It’s located behind the Foster’s Freeze that recently was turned into a Starbucks.
Dave & Buster’s
The entertainment, sports and restaurant complex is launching an “all-new” Dave & Buster’s — but it’s in the same location that opened in 2016.
It’s actually an upgrade with several new features, still at the 212 East River Park Circle location at Highway 41 and Friant Road.
The new features officially launch at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7. The first 100 people in line will receive free games for a year.
The upgrades include The Arena, a 360-degree gaming experience with interactive digital walls and floor.
There are also private game suites where groups can play high-tech darts or digital shuffleboard, along with a TV to watch whatever they choose.
The business has added what it calls “immersive watch,” a 40-foot screen for sports and events, and more than 30 oversized HDTVs surrounding the bar.
A new menu in the restaurant includes pasta, steak, protein bowls and shareable plates.
