At least 30 restaurants closed in Fresno area in past year. Which do you miss the most?
It was a killer year for restaurants.
And not in a good way.
At least 30 of them closed in the Fresno area in the past 12 months — from big names such as Fosters Freeze and Rubio’s Coastal Grill shutting down locations to longtime mom-and-pops, such as the DiCicco’s at First Street and Shaw Avenue suddenly shutting its doors after more than 40 years.
The reasons why vary. Most owners cite three main reasons: inflation pushing up the price of food and supplies, increases in pay rates at all levels and energy bills. Combine those with climbing rent costs and people eating out less, and it’s a cocktail you don’t want to have to swallow.
Of course there are non-economic reasons too. There’s the occasional trouble with a lease or a landlord bulldozing a building.
Now, we want to know from you, which one do you miss the most? Which one was really a part of your life and that you can’t believe is gone?
Be sure to type “YES” in the first field that pops up to prove you’re a human.
We’ll leave the poll up until 5 a.m. Tuesday and let you know which one got the most votes.
