Work has started on the newest Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, this one in northwest Fresno.

The uber-popular fast food drive-thru restaurant has started moving earth at the Marketplace at El Paseo.

The spot, enclosed by a white fence, is at the north end of the shopping center near Herndon Avenue and Highway 99, between Panera Bread and McDonald’s.

It will still be quite a while before you can get the combo meals its known for, with fried chicken strips, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast and coleslaw. The restaurant is expected to hold its grand opening in late spring 2024.

The company made a splash when it opened its first two locations in town: One at Blackstone and El Paso avenues near River Park, and another on Shaw Avenue across from Sierra Vista Mall in Clovis.

Another location will start construction soon at East Kings Canyon Road and South Willow Avenue.

It also has restaurants in Tulare, Visalia and Hanford.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers specializes in quick-service chicken finger restaurants with drive-thrus. Fresno has one location open and another is headed for northwest Fresno.
