The newest Burlington store in Clovis opens this weekend with giveaways planned over several days of its grand opening.

The ribbon-cutting starts at 7:45 a.m. Friday, May 5, with the store opening shortly after.

The discounter has taken over the former Office Depot store at 685 Herndon Ave. in the Clovis Commons shopping center, between Target and T.J. Maxx.

The other Burlington on Shaw Avenue near Minnewawa Avenue is expected to remain open.

Free stuff

On Friday and Saturday mornings, the first 100 people ages 18 and up will get a Burlington WOW! Buck. Scratch the coupon and it gives customers a prize amount that can be used toward their purchase.

On Sunday, the store is giving away free canvas tote bags until supplies run out.

Burlington — the company dropped the “Coat Factory” from its name in 2009 — now sells a lot more than outerwear. It caters to people shopping for low-priced men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, along with baby, home and beauty products.

The company has 893 stores in 46 states and Puerto Rico.

At the grand opening, it will present a donation of $5,000 to Mountain View Elementary School.

The store’s regular hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
