New food trucks hitting Fresno streets, with burritos, Brazilian food and more

New food trucks keep on popping up in Fresno.

A few weeks back, we told you about six new food trucks – serving everything from Philly cheesesteaks to vegan sandwiches – that launched in Fresno.

Now, there’s even more.

Their cuisines range from high-end Brazilian food in a giant food truck to good ol’ burgers and burritos. There’s even a Japanese teppanyaki truck on the scene now.

Schedules of where the trucks will be vary. The best way to find them is to follow Fresno Street Eats, which hosts many food truck events, on Facebook or Instagram. You can also follow each food truck on social media.

Here are details about the new trucks, their food, their hours, and where to find them.

New food trucks

Trinchan Fresh Bistro, which serves Brazilian food, is not your typical food truck. At 22 feet long, it’s one of the biggest around with a full kitchen inside, including a freezer, that can do all kinds of catering jobs.

But there’s also a lot more going on with food and the journey that led the chef to open a food truck in Fresno that sets it apart.

The food is Brazilian churrasco, cooked on the truck as meat on big skewers. Whole pineapples are also cooked on the grill, slices of which are served with meals.

It offers filet mignon (pepper steak), free range chicken breast with Brazilian seasonings, and Portuguese linguica sausage. Coming soon is picanha, a traditional Brazilian cut of top sirloin that’s moist and tender.

Customers can get the meat in a ciabatta sandwich or as a plate. Both come with a salad that includes capers – yes, capers from a food truck – pickles and feta cheese.

Açai bowls and dishes using plantains are coming next.

As you might have guessed, this food is a little higher end than your average food truck. Prices range from $10.99 for the sandwich to $17.

Owner and chef Jorge “Georges” Trinchan has degrees from both Le Cordon Bleu and The Culinary Institute of America. He grew up in France and has worked in restaurants all over the world, including Brazil.

He used to be a partner in local Brazilian restaurants Rio Grill in Clovis and the former Samba in Fresno.

He sold his interests in those restaurants when he had to pay for a liver transplant. After surgery, he discovered he had Type 2 diabetes, and has focused on healthy food – for himself and his customers – ever since.

“I was about to use insulin and medication, but I stayed away from it,” he said. “Now I’m really concerned about what we eat and how we eat.”

Something else changed too.

“My God gave me a lot of things and kept me alive for a reason and I want to give back,” he said.

So he hires high school students who are part of a job training program. He teaches them cooking skills, but also skills that come in handy for any job, like coaching them on self esteem.

He hopes to someday start a foundation that can help kids go to Harvard, for example, or otherwise give kids who need it a boost in their careers.

Where to find: For now, look for Trinchan Fresh Bistro at Enzo’s Table at Willow and Shepherd avenues in Clovis from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Burrito Queens is run by a pair of women with decades of experience in the restaurant and catering field who decided to open their own food truck.

They sell burritos, clearly, along with tortas, tacos and quesadillas. But the owners also wanted to offer food you don’t find at other Mexican food trucks.

So there’s an “ultimate chimichanga,” a deep-fried burrito smothered in all kinds of sauces and cheese.

There’s also a wet burrito with sauce and cheese.

And there’s the “Royal Challenge Burrito”: A three- to four-pound burrito with your choice of meat, beans, rice, cabbage, and basically anything else they can find to put in it.

Tortillas are handmade each day.

The truck is based in Sanger, but is doing plenty of events in the Fresno area. It’s run by Adela Trujillo and Maria Cruz Oliveras, friends and business partners who met while working at El Torito in downtown Fresno.

The name Burrito Queens is a nod to Trujillo’s first job starting at age 13 at the Madera restaurant Burrito King.

Where to find: Burrito Queens appears at some Fresno Street Eats event, and occasionally at House of Pendragon Brewing Co. in Sanger. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for details.

Ring Your Bell Teppanyaki. Regulars on the food truck scene may be familiar with Ring Your Bell BBQ, which has been around since 2019. The same people are behind Ring Your Bell Teppanyaki, which launched about two weeks ago.

The teppanyaki menu features fried rice bowls, teriyaki, and hot-and-spicy bowls. The teriyaki and hot-and-spicy bowls can be made with chicken, steak or shrimp.

What makes the hot-and-spicy bowls hot and spicy? “That’s a secret,” said owner Tyler Bell.

The truck doesn’t have the same showmanship as sitting down at a teppanyaki grill at a Japanese restaurant, but you can watch them cook through the windows in the back of the truck.

Also, Ring Your Bell BBQ is not dead. Bell is having a second trailer built for the barbecue business that should be back on the road the first week of April.

Where to find: A frequent Fresno Street Eats participant, you can find Ring Your Bell Teppanyaki from 5 to 8 p.m. at these locations: Tuesdays at North Pointe Community Church in Fresno, Wednesdays at Loma Vista Community Church in Clovis, Thursdays at Shaw and Polk avenues in Fresno, and Fridays at Peoples Church.

Bob’s & Brew’s, which specializes in burgers and other fast food, has two trucks in Fresno and a third is on the way.

It serves several kinds of burgers, chicken sandwiches, a lamb burger and vegan burgers. There are also chicken wings, tenders and wraps, fries and milkshakes on the menu.

The Bob in the name is the owner’s brother. Brews refers to the beers that they hope to someday serve when they open a restaurant. The truck doesn’t serve alcohol.

A new pizza truck is also in the works and is yet to be named.

Where to find: Bob’s & Brew’s has two regular locations. One truck is at Enzo’s Table from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. The second truck is parked at the Fast N Esy at Shields and Armstrong avenues from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
