It’s almost here: The first ALDI grocery store in Fresno sets opening date
ALDI, the highly anticipated new grocery store in northwest Fresno, has set an opening date.
The store plans to open Jan. 28, according to its website.
Its regular hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
The store is at the northwest corner of Shaw and West avenues, on the same plot of land as the former Tang Dynasty restaurant.
It had originally planned to open in the fall, but the company delayed the opening because of the coronavirus pandemic.
ALDI is a small, German-based supermarket on a massive expansion kick with plans to expand to 2,500 stores nationwide by the end of 2022.
The company did not return a message inquiring about its plans for a grand opening, though it will likely be different than the pre-pandemic Clovis ALDI grand opening that saw 100 people line up.
That store opened in fall 2019 at Herndon and Fowler avenues.
If Fresno County is still under a stay-at-home order when the store opens, the Fresno store will only be able to open at 35% capacity.
