The Fresno fair is a drive-thru this year. How to get food, music despite coronavirus
You can’t stroll The Big Fresno Fair this year due to coronavirus, but you can still get funnel cakes, cinnamon rolls and a taste of the fair experience.
Called Drive-Thru Eats, fair vendors will be selling food from Friday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 18. Fair goers can drive to the fairgrounds to get their food from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Entry to the fairgrounds is free, but the food is not.
Food includes Country Fair cinnamon rolls, Dole Whip, funnel cakes, curly fries, cotton candy, barbecue, Greek food. For a full list of foods available, vendors and prices, go to www.fresnofair.com/drive-thru-eats.
Live music, entertainment
You can get the fair experience in other ways too.
Musicians will be strolling the fairgrounds as people buy food, including rock violinist Patrick Contreras, and Travis Brooks, whose music is a combination of glam rock, rock, blues and country.
Performance groups from the area will also be providing entertainment. So will entertainers like Lanky the Clown, Pirate Captain Arr and cowboys Slim & Curly.
Booths will sell inflatable figurines, plush toys and light-up toys often sold at fairs.
Anyone who donates blood to the Central California Blood Center between Monday, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 3 can get a ticket worth $3 off the purchase of fair food. Donation sites at www.donateblood.org.
