The former Tahoe Joe’s near Shaw and Marks avenues will become a new restaurant: Culichi Town.

It’s a Mexican restaurant serving cuisine from the seaside state of Sinaloa in Mexico.

Culichi Town has 11 restaurants, including locations in Modesto, Chicago and Houston, though most of the restaurants are in California.

It’s not clear when it will open. But it will be a while, as work is still happening inside and walls have been ripped down. Culichi Town executives did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

If the restaurant is anything like the other locations, it will feature lots of seafood.

The menu includes plenty of sushi. A hot Cheetos ceviche tostada gets good reviews on Yelp.com.

Fresnans have been watching the high-profile restaurant space since Tahoe Joe’s – the original one opened by Dave Fansler in 1995 – closed in September 2016.
