Want an inside scoop?

Fresno’s latest frozen yogurt shop at Peach Avenue and Kings Canyon Road is so new it doesn’t have a sign yet.

The two-day-old Peachy King Frozen Yogurt is at 5247 E. Kings Canyon Road. Since it’s a little hard to find without the sign, look for the shop’s bright orange walls on the northeast corner, between Popeyes and the urgent care place.

The shop is just barely starting to serve customers from the public after a test run with family.

“We’re here, even though we might not have a sign, we’re here,” says Sarah Carmicheal, who owns Peachy King with her husband.

Its grand opening is Saturday, Oct. 8.

If you’re paying close attention, you noticed the name Peachy King combines the two street names it’s at – Peach Avenue and Kings Canyon Road.

The shop has all the traditional flavors like chocolate and at least one unusual one – Butter Brickle. That’s essentially an old school toffee flavor that tastes a lot like the salted caramel pretzel flavors you find today.

Peachy King also has traditional toppings like sprinkles and chocolate sauce, and some unusual ones, like kiwi-lime sauce and chunks of red velvet cake that were suggested by a customer.

And you know what else is new?

The owners’ marriage. The Carmicheals, both 30, got married last November.

Both have different day jobs but live in one of the newer subdivisions in the Sunnyside area. Every time they got a craving for frozen yogurt it would mean a big drive across town.

So they decided to open one, acting on an idea Colby had been mulling for a while.

“We’re excited to be able to spend the time together,” Sarah Carmicheal says.
