Café Corazón’s iced cafe con leche recipe featured in ‘got milk?’ recipe guide
The creators of the “got milk?” campaign have released a guide to California’s best milk-based recipes — and one of them comes from Fresno’s own Café Corazón.
Café Corazón, at 1306 Wishon Ave., has its iced café con leche (coffee with milk) featured in the online guide that is being shared via social media. It’s one of seven recipes from restaurants in the collection by The California Milk Processor Board.
The drink is described as “freshly roasted coffee beans brewed to perfection and mixed with sugar, cinnamon and whole milk.”
Here’s the recipe.
Iced café con leche
Cinnamon syrup for café con leche:
451/2 grams cinnamon chips
350 grams brown sugar
2 cups water
Café con leche
31/5 cups whole milk
11/2 quarts cinnamon syrup
451/2 grams ground coffee, dark roast
1 quart + 2/5 cups water
For the cinnamon syrup: In a pot, incorporate cinnamon and water and bring to boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Strain into container while mixture is hot. Add brown sugar immediately. Stir until fully dissolved. Cover and refrigerate.
Café con leche preparation:
Brew the dark roast coffee in the water. Strain into a large container. Add the cinnamon syrup and whisk until evenly mixed. Refrigerate. After the mixture is cold, add the whole milk. Pour over ice and enjoy.
In the winter months, this beverage can be frothed and served hot for an exceptionally creamy comforting drink.
