Peaches take center stage at Clovis farmers market
Peaches are the star of the show at the Peach Party Friday, July 17 at Old Town Clovis Farmers Market.
Clovis-based Wawona Frozen Foods has been sponsoring the event, which is a favorite among market goers, for 20 years. It runs from 5:30-9 p.m. and is centered around Fourth Street and Pollasky Avenue. Look for the tent.
Wawona will be giving away free frozen peach desserts to eat and will have specialty peaches for sale.
Vendors and restaurants get in on the action by offering peach-themed dishes. Think peach cobbler, peach salsa, peaches and cream pizza and peach tamales. Fresno State will be there with its peach ice cream.
Students from the Clovis Institute of Technology’s culinary program will be demonstrating recipes at Fourth and Pollasky and attendees will get to sample the final product.
“It’s another way promoting the abundance we have in the Central Valley,” says Carole Lester, executive director of the Business Organization of Old Town Clovis, which oversees the farmers market.
All of it will be set to music by the Country Outlaws band playing at Fifth Street and Pollasky Avenue.
